The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the embassies of Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and Mexico jointly held a seminar to mark the 200 th anniversary of Latin America’s Independence Day in Hanoi on June 10.
Attending the event were the Ambassadors of Argentina, Venezuela and Chile, the Charge d’Affaires of Mexico and representatives from relevant agencies in Vietnam.
The participants together recalled the path to independence in Latin American countries since their movements for independence was launched in 1810.
They affirmed that the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean is always a top priority and only unity can help regional countries deal with current challenges.
The local scholars and representatives of the four Latin American countries agreed that Vietnam and Latin America shared a lot of similarities as they were oppressed nations which aspired to independence and were determined to fight for their independence and sovereignty.
The Vietnamese and Latin American people have always showed their friendship and solidarity in the struggles for national independence as well as in the national development, they added./.
