Leaders meet newly-appointed Vietnamese ambassadors

Meeting with the diplomats in Hanoi on July 22 before they leave for their overseas missions, PM Dung reiterated the country’s current targets, including maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for the national development and securing the national independence, sovereignty, unification and territorial integrity.

He said the diplomats should pay attention to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between Vietnam and the rest of the world and making full use of international support for Vietnam stance, especially in safeguarding the national sovereignty.

At the same time, they should work to expand export markets, boost Vietnamese investment overseas and attract foreign cash flows to the country, particularly in the field of clean and high technology.

In addition, promoting culture, education, science-technology, security and defence partnership with the host countries is also among their tasks, he added.

The ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad need to pay special attention to the protection of Vietnamese citizens while fostering the connectivity among overseas Vietnamese, he said.

The same day, the diplomats was also received by Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung, who expressed his belief that with their experience and endeavour, they will help boost parliamentary cooperation between Vietnam and other countries, serving the upcoming hosting of the 123 rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Hanoi in 2015.

For their part, the ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad promised they will do their utmost to beef up diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the countries.-VNA
