Lebanon wishes to step up friendly and cooperative relations with Vietnam, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman has said.

President Michel Suleiman made the statement while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to Lebanon Nguyen Quang Khai following his presentation of credentials in the capital city of Beirut on Oct. 16.

He expressed his delight at developments in Lebanon-Vietnam relations, especially in bilateral cooperation within the French-speaking community and other international organisations.

The president said Lebanon and Vietnam need to fully exploit their potential to expand cooperation in the fields of economics and trade.

Sharing the host’s view, Khai affirmed Vietnam’s desire to build friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the Middle East country.

On this occasion, Khai also met with Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh and Minister of Economy and Trade Muhammad Safadi to discuss measures to beef up ties between the two nations./.
