Long An reserve restores 17ha of wetland forest

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Lang Sen Wetland Reserve has completed their project to restore 17ha of special-use cajeput forest in Tân Hưng district, Long An province.

The project, funded by PAN Group and C.P. Vietnam, ran from 2022 to 2024.

It not only restored the wetland forest, but also included educational outreach activities targeting about 500 local students, raising awareness about the value of wetland ecosystems.

Lang Sen Reserve, located in the Dong Thap Muoi (the Plain of Reeds), boasts a diverse ecosystem with 156 wild plant species and 149 vertebrate species, including 13 listed in Vietnam's Red Book.

t is also home to a rich natural vegetation cover, and serves as a refuge for reptiles and other wildlife during the dry season./.
