Malaysia Airlines flight diverted to Hong Kong

A Malaysia Airlines flight en route from Kuala Lumpur to Seoul in the Republic of Korea (RoK) had to change its course to China’s Hong Kong on March 24 due to an electrical incident, according to news reports.

The state-owned company said in a statement thatFlight MH066 carrying 271 passengers left Kuala Lumpur at 11:37 pm andwas due to arrive at Incheon airport in Seoul at 6:50 am local time.

However,the plane was diverted to Hong Kong as the aircraft generator becameinoperative . Electrical power continued to be supplied by theAuxiliary Power Unit, the company said.

The plane landed safely in Hong Kong at 3 am. All passengers were transferred onto other carriers, it added.

Malaysia Airlines is in the international spotlight following thedisappearance of its Beijing-bound Flight MH370 on March 8. Themultinational search for the missing jetliner has entered the third weekwith no traces of the plane found.-VNA
