Hanoi (VNA) – A Malaysia Airlines plane was forced to land in Australia’s Melbourne city after a passenger claimed to have bomb, Malaysian Deputy Minister of Transport Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said on May 31.

The flight, MH128, was en route from Melbourne to the capital of Malaysia Kuala Lumpur. It took off at 11.11pm (local time) and landed 30 minutes later.

Deputy Minister Abdul Azix Kaprawi said one passenger, a Sri Lankan, attempted to enter the cockpit. The passenger seemed to be drunk and claimed he had bomb, which turned out to be fake.

The crew restrained the passenger and he was then detained by Melbourne police at the airport.

It was not a hijacking case and the flight arrived safely, the Malaysian official said.-VNA
