Malaysian Police have detained 13 Malaysians suspected to be linked to the militant group Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said.

The suspects were arrested in Shah Alam, Selangor state on October 14, Khalid Abu Bakar was quoted by The Star newspaper as saying.

Malaysia has captured 36 IS-linked suspects since April 28.

Earlier, the Malaysian authorities said at least 40 Malaysians took part in conflicts in Syria, warning the increasing recruitment of the IS through social networking sites.-VNA
