Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Malaysian Government is in the process of drafting the National Agro-Food Policy 2021-2030, the objective of which is to spur the modernisation of the agro-food sector, said Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism Exhibition 2018 in Selangor on November 22, Mahathir said the Agro-Food 2.0 policy was crucial in making the food sector more competitive with the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
The policy will emphasise the development of infrastructure and the use of modern technology, the provision of human capital and commercialisation of agriculture including innovation in the key sectors, he said.
This is in line with the government's focus on making the food sector more relevant and more competitive, the PM stressed.
