Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia will remain a business-friendly nation where all investors and companies will be accorded fair treatment, said Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on June 1.

The PM made the commitment when being asked on what he would do to protect the interests of foreign investors at a press conference.

“It doesn’t matter if you are local or foreign, all will be treated the same way. If there are any problems, let us know. This government will attend to it,” he said.

He vowed that any mistakes made by the previous government will be corrected in accordance with signed agreements or contracts.

Recently, the leader announced the cancellation of several major infrastructure projects and is believed to be eyeing further cuts as part of his administration’s austerity drive prompted by the discovery that Malaysia has over 1 trillion ringgits in liabilities, equivalent to 80.03 percent of the country’s GDP.-VNA
