Hanoi (VNA) - An international marathon event will be held shortly in the southern island district of Phu Quoc in Kien Giang province.

Titled “Run in Paradise”, the 2016 Phu Quoc International Marathon will comprise a full marathon of 42km, half marathon of 21km and 10km and 5km races.

“We at Sporting Republic are very excited to welcome participants, spectators, and members of the media to join the 2016 Phu Quoc International Marathon,” Marcel Lennartz, organiser Sporting Republic’s race director, said. “The Phu Quoc International Marathon represents much more than the 42km run as it signifies the unity among runners from all over the globe, where athletes gather and enjoy the race all together.”

“It is our honour to have the opportunity to host the 2016 Phu Quoc International Marathon at our resort.” Ganes Chinnathamby, general manager of Long Beach Resort Phu Quoc, said. “All of us in the Phu Quoc area look forward to meeting all the contenders from around the world, as this special event marks the significant beginning of our tourist season.”

The 2016 Phu Quoc International Marathon is a one-day event on June 11, hosted by Sporting Republic, a sports management agency based in Hong Kong.-VNA
