Meeting in Hanoi responds to World Health Day

The Health Ministry, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Vietnam Young Physicians' Association, and the representative office of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Vietnam, held a meeting in Hanoi on April 8 in response to the 2023 World Health Day themed “Health for all”.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Health Ministry, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Vietnam Young Physicians' Association, and the representative office of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Vietnam, held a meeting in Hanoi on April 8 in response to the2023 World Health Day themed “Health for all”.

Speaking at the event, Minister ofHealth Dao Hong Lan reiterated Vietnam's policy of making public health care a top task. She said the event aims to convey the message on health improving practices for disease prevention and control, for changing lives and fora healthier Vietnam.

WHO Representative in Vietnam AngelaPratt said Vietnam,like other countries in the world, is currently facing serious challenges tocommunity health, including the increasing demand for healthcare services, anaging population, infectious diseases, climate change affecting human health, and non-communicable diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, illnesses caused bysmoking, excessive alcohol consumption, unhealthy eating habits and lack ofphysical activity.

To address these challenges, she underlined the importanceof multilateral cooperation and the role of young people in the cause of public health,towards the goal of achieving better health for everyone.

Atthe event, delegates joined in a mass dance performance and a walk for health.

On the occasion, thousands of people in Hanoiwere screened for diseases and received advices on treatment using a health careapp by more than 150 doctors from hospitals across the city./.

Ministry calls for continued vigilance against COVID-19

All citizens to receive annual free medical checkups: Deputy Health Minister

At the Government’s regular April meeting on May 6, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan described Party General Secretary To Lam’s direction on the exemption of hospital fees for all citizens as a major and humanitarian policy, stating it is not a long-term strategy and a goal that the health sector is determined to implement, but also the one that touches the hearts of millions of people and meets their expectations.

Brain-dead organ donor helps save six lives

Within 24 hours, the process of receiving the donated liver, two kidneys, two corneas, and skin to conducte transplantation for six patients was completed. The last surgery ended at 8:00 pm on May 3.

Free medical checkups provided for border residents

Running from April 12-13, the activity forms part of the 9th Vietnam–China Border Defence Friendship Exchange Programme, scheduled for April 16-17 in Vietnam’s Lang Son province and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
