The Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Business Council wrapped up a meeting in Kunming, the capital of China’s Yunnan province, on June 7 with a “joint understanding” on deeper cooperation among regional business circles.

Representatives from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand released a joint call for stronger economic cooperation within the framework of GMS, as well as the Free Trade Area between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

They said business circles should shake hands in speeding up the connection in transport infrastructure and in the conversion of the transport corridor into an economic corridor.

Member countries also called for stronger connectivity in investment and commercial policies and market integration policies. They are also interested in strengthening the links of key sectors in GMS member countries./.
