Mexican Party voices support for AO/dioxin victims

The leader of the Mexican Labour Party (PT) has voiced support for the Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims, saying that US chemical companies must take responsibility for the great damages they have caused to the Vietnamese people.

PT General Secretary Alberto Anaya Gutierrezmade the statement at a ceremony in Mexico City on August 16 where hepresented 120 wheelchairs to the Vietnam Association of Victims of AgentOrange/dioxin (VAVA).

The visiting head of the Communist Partyof Vietnam Central Committee Commission for External Relations HoangBinh Quan, who received the gift from the PT on behalf of the VAVA,thanked the PT and its leader for their practical support and assistanceto Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims. He said this contributes to theprotection of peace and justice in the world.

Earlier, at aworking session with visiting Party member Quan, the Mexico-VietnamFriendship Parliamentarians Group expressed its solidarity and supportto Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims in their fight for justice.

Thegroup agreed to include the AO issue in the agenda of the Mexican Houseof Representatives and proposed Mexico City to consider the constructionof a statue and a photo exhibition on the AO disaster./.
