Vietnamese Ambassador Le Linh Lan (R) and Governor of Zacatecas - Alejandro Tello Cristerna (Photo: VNA) Mexico City (VNA) – The Governor of the Mexican stateof Zacatecas, Alejandro Tello Cristerna, has underlined his hope to enhanceall-round cooperation with Vietnamese localities, thus helping solidify the twocountries’ relations.
He made the remark at a recent meeting withVietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Linh Lan, stressing cooperation potential ineconomy, trade, culture, education, health care, agriculture, tourism andmineral.
Zacatecas wishes to set up connections throughpairing with provinces and cities in Vietnam, he said, appreciating contributionsby Vietnamese doctors who are working at the acupuncture centre of theAutonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ).
The governor also hailed the sound relationssince the two countries established diplomatic ties on May 19, 1975, addingthat he expects to lead a delegation of Zacatecas officials and entrepreneursto Vietnam to seek cooperation chances in the near future.
Ambassador Lan thanked the Zacatecasadministration for its support to the acupuncture cooperation project betweenthe UAZ and Vietnam’s National Hospital of Acupuncture. She said she hopes thatbilateral cooperation will be expanded to many other aspects.
On this occasion, the diplomat introducedVietnam’s outstanding socio-economic achievements over more than 30 years ofreform, along with its growing stature in the region and the world. She alsosaid that Mexico’s participation in APEC Vietnam 2017 will substantiallycontribute to the success of the forum.
Earlier, Lan met with Mayor of Zacatecas cityJudit Guerrero Lopez to seek ways to promote the city’s cultural, educationaland tourism collaboration with Vietnamese cities.
Judit Guerrero Lopez said her city wasrecognised as a world heritage site by UNESCO and is considered a city ofeducation and creativity of Mexico. It is ready to share experience in themanagement and development of education, tourism and cultural heritagepreservation with its Vietnamese counterparts.
During her working visit to Zacatecas from May25-28, Ambassador Lan also had a meeting with UAZ Rector Antonio GuzmanFernandez to talk measures to increase student and lecturer exchanges withuniversities in Vietnam.
The rector spoke highly of the cooperationbetween the UAZ’s acupuncture centre and Vietnam’s National Hospital ofAcupuncture, which has sent tens of doctors to Zacatecas state over the lastdecade. He hoped that the continued cooperation with the Vietnamese hospitalwill turn the UAZ into a leading acupuncture training centre in Mexico andLatin America.
He also commended Vietnamese students in the UAZand pledged to provide more scholarships for students from the Southeast Asiannation.-VNA
