The Ministry of Education and Training is offering over 1,000 scholarships including 800 PhDs using the State budget for teachers, staff, government workers and excellent students.
The State has spent around 100 billion VND (5.3 million USD) annually since 2004 in this overseas training scheme, according to Bui Trung Thong, chief administrator of the ministry’s International Education Development Department.
Post-graduate students with excellent results who have been financially guarantee by public universities under the State’s management are eligible for the scholarships.
Candidates must be healthy, professional, able to speak the appropriate foreign language and morally sound.
According to the ministry, the scholarships will be prioritized to develop those who have signed long-term contracts with public universities, research institutes, high-tech zones and State-owned enterprises. However, they must commit to returning to their agencies or jobs in line with State requirements after graduating.
Candidates will also be prioritized if they work in industries such as science and technology; social science; economics and management; art; sports; pharmaceutical and medicine; agricultural forestry and aquaculture.
The ministry says applications will be accepted until May 1 this year.
“Studying and living in a developed country could help Vietnamese students access more advanced education systems, so I think I will apply for the scholarship,” said Nguyen Hoa Binh, a young teacher from the Biotechnology Department of the Hanoi University of Agriculture./.
