The State has spent around 100 billion VND (5.3 million USD) annuallysince 2004 in this overseas training scheme, according to Bui TrungThong, chief administrator of the ministry’s International EducationDevelopment Department.
Post-graduate students with excellent results who have been financiallyguarantee by public universities under the State’s management areeligible for the scholarships.
Candidates must be healthy, professional, able to speak the appropriate foreign language and morally sound.
According to the ministry, the scholarships will be prioritized todevelop those who have signed long-term contracts with publicuniversities, research institutes, high-tech zones and State-ownedenterprises. However, they must commit to returning to their agenciesor jobs in line with State requirements after graduating.
Candidates will also be prioritized if they work in industries such asscience and technology; social science; economics and management; art;sports; pharmaceutical and medicine; agricultural forestry andaquaculture.
The ministry says applications will be accepted until May 1 this year.
“Studying and living in a developed country could help Vietnamesestudents access more advanced education systems, so I think I willapply for the scholarship,” said Nguyen Hoa Binh, a young teacher fromthe Biotechnology Department of the Hanoi University of Agriculture./.
