SonLa (VNA) - The second Moc Chau Tea Festival 2017 has opene at Moc ChauNational Park, Son La province, as part of activities of the 2017 NationalTourism Year.

The event aims to promote Moc Chau tea products, honour tea growers, and drawmore investments. These efforts will contribute to creating jobs and ensuring astable income for local farmers, along with developing the province’s tourismindustry.

Accordingto Chairman of the Son La provincial People’s Committee Cam Ngoc Minh, thefestival contributes to promoting tea production and introducing them todomestic as well as international tourists.

Thisyear’s festival features 32 booths by companies and cooperatives specialisingin tea production and distribution from Son La, Phu Tho, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, andLai Chau provinces.

The festival will comprise a series of activities, including a photoexhibition, a tourism exhibition, a tea-leaf picking and tea-making contest asalso sightseeing in the tea plantations.

MocChau is endowed with a cool climate and soil suitable for growing tea plants. Formedin 1959, the Moc Chau tea material area is now expanded to more than 1,800hectares and produces over 23,000 tonnes of tea leaves. Moc Chau tea productsare exported to many international markets, including Japan, Taiwan (China),and Pakistan. In recent years, the production of tea in Moc Chau has alsoboosted local tourism.-VNA
