Son, who isalso head of the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs,made the appeal at his March 15-16 meetings with representatives of theVietnamese community in the city.
At the meetings, overseasVietnamese representatives expressed their desire to preserve andpromote Vietnamese culture around the globe.
They also voicedtheir wish for Vietnam to devise more suitable policies encouragingyoung people to serve the country’s development and prosperity.
They called on relevant agencies at home to provide a sufficientnumber of highly skilled teachers and resources for Vietnamese languagecentres in New York.
Some said they plan to develop onlineVietnamese language teaching projects with the support of localresidents, providing audio and visual clips on the nation’s history andculture.-VNA
