More than 34 million e-wallets active in Vietnam

More than 34 million e-wallets were active in Vietnam as of June 30, accounting for 59% of the total 58 million activated e-wallets.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - More than 34 million e-wallets were active in Vietnam as of June 30, accounting for 59% of the total 58 million activated e-wallets.

According to data from the Payment Department under the State Bank of Vietnam, Vietnam had 9.13 million mobile-money accounts at the end of June and carried out 128 million transactions worth 4.78 trillion VND (197.2 million USD).

Payment growth via a QR Code increased by 104.23% in quantity and 99.57% in value in the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year.

Currently, the country has 50 payment intermediary organisations, of which 48 organisations provide e-wallet services.

According to the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (Napas), the payment market in Vietnam had 3.5 billion non-cash payment transactions last year, with a total value of more than 66 quadrillion VND.

The number of transactions via QR Code reached about 183 million transactions, a strong growth of 170% compared to 2022.

The total transaction value via QR Code gained about 116 trillion VND, an increase of 74% compared to 2022.

Online payment transactions (Ecom) will reach about 210 million transactions, a growth of 15% compared to 2022.

The total transaction value reached about 150 trillion VND.

More than 145 million cards are in circulation with total card payment turnover reaching more than 1.8 quadrillion VND last year, a year-on-year growth of about 18%./.
