-President Vo Van Thuong met voters in the central city of Da Nang on April 27 ahead of the fifth session of the 15th National Assembly.
Local voters voiced their opinions over amendments to the Land Law, support for businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts to fight corruption and high-tech crime, and scientific-technological application in farming.Read full text

-Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 27 attended a ceremony to launch the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Hygiene and the Month for Workers in 2023, during which he stressed the need to pay more attention to labourers, and listen to their thoughts and aspirations.
Speaking at the event, PM Chinh stressed the economic restructuring, the change in production and business methods, the transfer of labourers between regions, economic zones and enterprises require workers to quickly and flexibly adapt to these changes.Read full text

- Vietnam attaches importance and gives priority to the development of multi-faceted cooperative relations with China, which includes the comprehensive and effective collaboration between China’s Chongqing Municipality and Vietnamese localities, an official of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has said.
Truong Thi Mai, a Politburo member, permanent member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat and head of the Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, made the statement at a meeting on April 27 with Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of the Municipality, as part of her visit to the locality.Read full text

-The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, organised an international workshop on “Experience in reporting under the UPR mechanism.”
In his remarks, Director of the MoFA’s Department of International Organisations Pham Hai Anh noted that since joining the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism, Vietnam has shown its seriousness and responsibility, with more recommendations accepted by the country, reaching 83% of the UPR third cycle recommendations, higher than the average of other countries.Read full text

- Vietnam is among four countries demonstrating gender parity in digital skills, according to a new UNICEF analysis which was issued on International Day of Girls in ICT (April 27).
When it comes to the gender parity, analysis in internet use among the youth has been achieved in only eight of 54 countries and territories analysed. However, around 90% of adolescent girls and young women do not use the internet in low-income countries, while their male peers are twice as likely to be online.Read full text

-The 4th Global Conference of the One Planet Network’s Sustainable Food System Programme (SFS Programme) concluded in Hanoi on April 27, spotlighting the importance of the transformation of the food system, heard a press conference held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on the same day.
Addressing the event, Nguyen Do Anh Tuan, Director of the MARD's International Cooperation Department said the event saw the in-person participation of 337 delegates, including 200 foreign delegates from 60 countries, the United Nations agencies, international organisations, State management agencies, and research and training establishments.Read full text

-The corporate sector, including both FDI and domestic enterprises, has invested about 9 billion USD in fields related to green growth and green development, an official said at a workshop named “FDI Enterprises in Vietnam’s Green Growth” held on April 27.

--Ho Chi Minh City led the nation in exports last year as unveiled by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in its annual report on imports and exports, released in Hanoi on April 27.
This is the seventh year in a row the ministry has compiled the report, which gave an insight into each group of commodities, markets, the utilisation of opportunities generated by free trade agreements, and export-import management, said Phan Van Chinh, Director of the MoIT’s Agency of Foreign Trade.Read full text

-As of April 27, a total of 1,237 journalists have registered to cover the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) and the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia.
The figure was unveiled by the Ministry of Information’s General Department of Information and Broadcasting (INB) which is in charge of media registration.
