- Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening and expanding relations with Russia, considering it one of the top priorities in its foreign policy, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has said.
At a reception in Hanoi on June 20 for Chief Justice of Russia Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Lebedev, Hue welcomed the Russian official's ongoing visit which takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 10th founding anniversary of comprehensive strategic partnership. Read full story
- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on June 20 received the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Southeast Asia and ASEAN led by its Chairman Daniel Caspary who are paying a visit to Vietnam.
At the meeting, Quang expressed his delight at the profound and substantive developments in the relationship between Vietnam and the EU over the past time. Currently, the EU is one of Vietnam's leading trade-investment partners. Meanwhile, Vietnam is the EU's largest trading partner in ASEAN. Read full story
- The Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI) has forecast that domestic petrol prices may see slight fluctuations in the adjustment on June 21.
According to the VPI’s prediction, which was given with the support of the petrol price forecasting model using Machine Learning, the retail price of RON95 may increase 197 VND per litre to 22,110 VND (0.94 USD) per litre, while the price of E5 biofuel is forecast to rise by 5 VND per litre or remain unchanged at 20,870 VND per litre. - Vietnam's economic growth continued to face challenges which were seen in a slowdown in industrial production and declining exports due to weak external demand and global uncertainties, the World Bank’s June edition on Vietnam Macro Monitoring showed.
The industrial production index (IIP) registered a meagre 0.1% year-on-year increase in May, down from 0.5% in April. In contrast, retail sales remained robust, expanding by 11.5% year-on-year, mirroring the growth rate seen in April. Read full story
- President of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Yu Jeong Yeol had an article published on the Economic Daily on June 19, which described Vietnam as a crucial economic partner that the Republic of Korea (RoK) must definitely cooperate with.
The article highlighted the prominent features of Vietnam, such as a young population with half being under 35 years old. Since the late 1980s, Vietnam has achieved high economic growth, averaging around 6% a year thanks to the success of its foreign policy, active integration and openness. Vietnam is attracting attention as a high-potential market based on its advantages in an abundant and young workforce as well as continuous expansion of infrastructure by the Government. - In 2022, Vietnam had 14,790,075 ha of forest area, of which 10,134,082 ha were natural forests and 4,655,933 ha were planted ones, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced in a decision on June 20.
The total area of forest meeting standards for calculating forest coverage was 13,926,043 ha, resulting in a percentage of forest cover of 42.02%./. Read full story
