- Leaders of Laos, China and Cambodia have sent their congratulations to To Lam on his fresh election as President of Vietnam.

Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed great excitement and warm congratulations to Lam, with a belief that the election reflects the trust and esteem that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam give to him. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 22 held a phone conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the third interaction between them in the six months.

Praising positive developments in the countries’ cooperation and friendship, they took into account the sides’ strengthened political trust, extensive and effective economic ties, and implementation of cooperative mechanisms yielding substantial results. Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai on May 22 met Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro as part of his trip to Japan to attend the 29th International Conference on the Future of Asia (FOA).

The two sides noted with pleasure developments of the Vietnam-Japan relationship, which was upgraded to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World in November 2023. Read full story

- The coast guards of Vietnam and China on May 22 conducted their joint patrol in the northern Gulf of Tonkin, covering the waters off Mong Cai city in Quang Ninh province and Dongxing and Fangchenggang cities in China’s Guangxi province.

The joint patrol, the second of its kind this year, spanned 102 nautical miles from Point 1 to Point 9 along the countries’ demarcation line in the Gulf of Tonkin. This area is a bustling zone for bilateral import-export and goods exchange activities. It is also a hotspot for illegal activities such as smuggling, trade fraud, illegal border crossings, and unauthorised maritime entries. Read full story

- The book on theory and practice of socialism in Vietnam by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong has been translated into Italian, with the new version made public at a ceremony held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy on May 21.

The Vietnamese version of the book, titled “Mot so van de ly luan va thuc tien ve chu nghia xa hoi va con duong di len chu nghia xa hoi o Viet Nam” (roughly translated as “Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam”), was launched on the occasion of the 92nd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - 2022). - The export value of timber and wood products in Vietnam is estimated to reach over 6 billion USD in the first five months of this year, an increase of 18% over the same period last year, according to General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Notably, the exports of wooden products is expected to bring home over 4 billion USD, up 7.5% compared to the same period last year. Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on May 22 stressed that the ultimate goal of policies towards revolutionaires, and the poor in rural and flood-hit areas is to ensure that no one is left behind.

Chairing a Hanoi meeting on the policies, the Deputy PM said it is a must to identify the role, position and responsibility of the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, organisations, agencies, businesses and individuals in mobilising and using resources for social housing. Read full story

- A wide range of interesting tourism, cultural, and sports activities await visitors this summer in the coastal city of Quy Nhon, central Binh Dinh province.

- Cross-border e-commerce, which is expected to generate 7.4 trillion USD in 2025, is seen as an effective solution to help enterprises expand their export markets, heard a conference held by the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Amazon Global Selling Vietnam (AGS VN) in Hanoi on May 22.

At the event, Deputy Director of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen said that e-commerce has been developing strongly in Vietnam, and become an important component of the digital economy./. Read full story
