- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Lawrence Wong on becoming the fourth PM of Singapore during their phone talks on May 29.

The two PMs voiced their delight at the unprecedented and comprehensive development of their countries’ cooperation, particularly in terms of economy with the network of the Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) considered a symbol of the successful economic partnership. Read full story

- Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on May 29 applauded Vietnam-Laos cooperation in science-technology and innovation as he received a delegation from Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology led by Minister Huynh Tan Dat.

- Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien highlighted the reinforced land border cooperation between Vietnam and China while receiving Counsellor for police affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam Wang Ben in Hanoi on May 29.

Chien, a member of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, emphasised that on the basis of the two countries’ traditional friendship and political trust, defence cooperation remains an important pillar of bilateral relations and has been carried out fruitfully and substantively. - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on May 29 handed over the State President’s decisions to deploy two officers to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

- Vietnamese authorities will crack down on tax evasion by implementing strict measures to ensure individuals and businesses fulfill their tax payment obligations.

Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc has issued an official dispatch proposing that "those who have outstanding tax debts will not be allowed to leave the country until their debts are settled." Read full story

- A delegation of the Ministry of Health led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Lien Huong is attending the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA77) which is taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 28 to June 1.

Huong told the Vietnam News Agency’s reporters in Geneva on the sidelines of the session that the COVID-19 pandemic shows that many countries have yet to make good preparedness for a global-scale epidemic, and warned that another epidemic would happen at any time, requiring all countries to strengthen their capacity and readiness for it. - Female writer Ly Lan was awarded the grand prize “Hiep si De Men” (Cricket Knight) at a presentation ceremony for the 5th "De Men (Cricket) Awards for Children" in Hanoi on May 29.
