Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries yesterday by the Vietnam News Agency.

- President Vo Van Thuong’s attendance at the coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from May 4-6 will affirm the importance that Vietnam attaches to its Strategic Partnership with the UK as well as its wish to build up a fine relationship with the King.

The two countries established their diplomatic ties on September 11, 1973. Over the past years, the two sides have exchanged high-level delegations to promote the bilateral relationship in a practical and effective manner. In September 2010, they signed a Joint Statement on the establishment of the Vietnam - UK Strategic Partnership. Read full story

- Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and a high-ranking delegation of Luxembourg arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on May 3 morning, starting an official visit to Vietnam from May 3-5 at the invitation of PM Pham Minh Chinh.

After landing at the Noi Bai Airport, the Luxembourg delegation left for a trip to Ha Long Bay in northeastern Quang Ninh province. Read full story

- Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Nguyen Manh Tuan has expressed his belief that cooperation between the two countries will enter a new stage of development and become more effective and practical in all spheres.

He made the remark in a recent interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency ahead of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan’s attendance at the 2023 Global Summit of Women and some bilateral activities in the UAE, along with an official visit to Qatar from May 3-8. Read full story

- A total of 129 traffic accidents occurred across Vietnam during the national holidays from April 29 to May 3, killing 67 people and injuring 90 others, according to the Traffic Police Department.

The figures represented decreases of 6.5%, 6.9% and 15.1%, respectively. Read full story

- Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi has recorded sharp rises in the numbers of international flights and passengers during the holidays of Hung Kings Commemoration Day, National Reunification and International Labour Day from April 29 to May 3.

In total, the airport served nearly 2,700 flights with over 422,000 passengers in the five-day holidays.

- Localities across Vietnam saw a boom in the number of tourists during the five-day holidays of Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day and International Workers’ Day from April 29 to May 3 – the second longest national holidays only after the lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The Tourism Department of Hanoi said on May 3 that during the five-day break, the capital city served 719,000 tourists, including 69,500 foreigners, and earned around 2.4 trillion VND (102.2 million USD) from the visitors.Read full story

- The national flag of Vietnam has been raised alongside 10 other countries at a flag-raising ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games on May 3 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The event marked the official presentation of all sports teams at the regional sports meet. Read full story
