- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam paid floral tribute and offered incense to fallen heroes at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel special relic site in the central province of Quang Tri on October 15.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on October 15 to discuss solutions to a project on sustainable development of one million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030, which was launched in November 2023.

In his speech, the PM described rice as a key strategic commodity of Vietnam. Rice production, he stressed, is not just about ensuring national food security and social stability; it is a lifeline for millions of farming households and a major driver of exports. - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with a group of full-time female lawmakers and high-ranking female officials from the NA Office and the Institute of Legislative Studies in Hanoi on October 15, ahead of the 94th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union and Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20).

With nearly 50 million women constituting 50.1% of the national population and a labour force participation rate of 78.2%, Vietnam stands out globally for its high female political participation. The election for the 15th NA and the People's Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure saw a historic milestone, with 151 women being elected as deputies or 30.26% of the total, a record high since the 11th legislature. - The Su that (Truth) National Political Publishing House on October 15 launched a digital bookshelf on late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, who passed away in July after spending nearly 57 years as a Party member and 14 years as the Party chief.

In his remarks at the launch in Hanoi, Politburo member and Permanent Member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat Luong Cuong highlighted the late leader as an exceptional figure who made significant contributions to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnam. Read full story

- The Pakistan Academy of Letters will translate “Truyen Kieu” (The Tale of Kieu) by legendary poet Nguyen Du and “Nhat Ky Trong Tu” (Prison Diary) by late President Ho Chi Minh into Urdu – the national language of Pakistan, and published them for public viewing.

In tandem, the Vietnam Writers' Association will translate and publish a collection of 100 poems by Pakistani poets into Vietnamese, for placement into the national library. Read full story

- Greek Ambassador to Vietnam Georgios Stilianopoulos has been honoured with the “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” insignia of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in recognition of his contributions to promoting the bilateral relations.

- The Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group officially launched the 5G network on October 15, becoming the first to officially provide this service in Vietnam.

In April 2024, Viettel was licensed to use the 2,600 MHz frequency band to develop the 5G network. So far, it has installed more than 6,500 base transceiver stations nationwide, covering all chief towns of the 63 provinces and centrally-run cities, along with major industrial parks, tourism sites, seaports, and airports. - The northern province of Thai Nguyen is aiming to become an attractive destination for US investors in sectors like education, health care, culture, and especially semiconductors, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trinh Viet Hung has affirmed.

- Bamboo Airways will officially resume international flights on November 26, starting with one round-trip flight per day on the direct route between Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and Don Mueang International Airport of Bangkok, Thailand.
