- The Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee convened a meeting under the chair of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in Hanoi on September 9 to discuss the settlement of consequences of super typhoon Yagi.

Typhoon Yagi, the third to enter the East Sea this year, was the strongest storm in the waters over the last 30 years and also reportedly sustained the fastest wind speed in the world so far this year. It has taken a heavy toll across localities in the northern region. Read full story

- Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin held talks in Moscow on September 9, highlighting parliamentary cooperation as a highly important pillar that has been developing unceasingly.

Welcoming Man on his first official visit to Russia after his election as Chairman of the Vietnamese NA, Volodin said he believed that following this trip, high-level meetings between the two parliaments will be organised more frequently, creating a solid stepping stone for the development of the Russia - Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership. - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam and Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi held talks in Hanoi on September 9, discussing concrete orientations and measures to further promote the two countries’ cooperation in the coming time.

Engaging in a private meeting after the welcome ceremony for the Mozambican President, the two leaders agreed to enhance the traditional ties between the CPV and the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) by maintaining theoretical research cooperation, experience exchange, and personnel training, thus serving as the basis for developing the two countries’ relations. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and visiting Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi on September 9 discussed and agreed on specific measures to further promote cooperation between the two countries.

- The total retail sales of goods and services increased by 8.5% to nearly 4.15 quadrillion VND (169.7 billion USD) in the January – August period thanks to improving consumption, production and tourism, according to the latest updates of the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The retail sales of goods totalled nearly 3,200 trillion VND, accounting for 77.1 % of the total revenue and up 7.3% against the same period last year. Read full story

- An international Famtrip delegation, consisting of 30 buyers from travel companies and media outlets from countries, including China, Singapore, Germany, and Australia, visited the south central province of Binh Thuan to explore new tourism products and services on September 7-8.

- The Bank for Investment and Development of Cambodia (BIDC) - a subsidiary of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) in Cambodia, held a ceremony on September 6 to receive a noble award from the King of Cambodia and celebrate its 15th founding anniversary.

King Norodom Sihamoni awarded the Cambodia Royal Order of Monisaraphon, the highest order of the Cambodian Royal Family to the BIDC. Three leaders of the BIDC were also awarded the Sowathara Order of Mohesana for their contributions to promoting investment and economic development in Cambodia while the bank's General Director was granted the Monisaraphon Order.
