-General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam on September 26 morning (local time) visited the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), the first free trade and export processing zone of Cuba, as part of his ongoing state visit to the Caribbean country.

Speaking via videoconferencing at the 2024 Global Innovation Index (GII) announcement ceremony held by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on September 26, the PM underlined Vietnam's firm opposition to the use of innovation for war, unfair competition, and any activities that negatively impact people's lives worldwide.Read full text

During a working session with the standing board of the provincial Party Committee on September 26, PM Chinh called on Binh Duong to pool all resources, particularly through public-private partnerships, to invest in a synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure. -Ho Chi Minh City wants to further strengthen connections with Turin city of Italy, effectively implement cooperation activities, and deepen their cooperative ties, thus contributing to the enhancement and development of Vietnam - Italy relations, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai on September 26.

Receiving Mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo who is on a working visit to the city, Mai thanked the Italian guest for attending the 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue and the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum in 2024. - The Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and the SPIRIT Slovenia Business Development Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation at a bilateral trade forum organised in Hanoi on September 26.

-The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected the film “Dao, Pho and Piano” (Peach Blossom, Pho and Piano) as its official nomination to compete in the best international feature film category at the 97th Academy Awards (Oscar).

Earlier, the Department of Cinema received an invitation from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to submit one movie representing Vietnam for the preliminary round of the best international feature at the 97th Academy Awards which is set to take place in Los Angeles, the US.Read full text

-An Indonesia-Vietnam business forum was jointly held on September 26 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI-HCM) and the Indonesian Consulate General in HCM City to ignite new business opportunities for small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in the high-tech, agriculture, and fishery sectors.
