Myanmar: Three people killed in Rakhine mine explosion

A mine explosion occurred in Myanmar’s Rakhine state, killing three people, including two male teenagers, and injuring one person, said the country’s police on July 15.

Hanoi (VNA) – A mineexplosion occurred in Myanmar’s Rakhine state, killing three people, includingtwo male teenagers, and injuring one person, said the country’s police on July15. 

The police have investigated whether the minehad been laid intentionally or the victims had accidentally struck unexplodedordnance leftover from the conflict. 

According to initial information, the mine washomemade, said an anonymous officer.

Tensions have escalated in the north of Rakhinestate, particularly after last October’s attacks carried out by armed militantson three border checkpoints in Maungdaw. By June 26, a total of 38 innocentcivilians were killed, while 22 others were missing or being kidnapped.-VNA
