Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced that digital exports recorded 6.8 billion RM (1.67 billion USD) between 2024 and the first half of 2025, marking a milestone in the country’s development journey of digital economy.
MDEC said the strong export performance was driven by its Founders Centre of Excellence, and Gateway, Amplify, Invest and Nurture programmes that support high-potential Malaysian digital companies in expanding internationally, securing growth capital, and building sustainable competitiveness.
In 2024, the country generated 4.2 billion RM in digital exports, driven by 325 companies operating across 27 countries. This momentum continued into the first half of 2025, with digital exports reaching 2.6 billion RM, supported by 350 companies expanding into 39 markets worldwide.
Notably, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled companies accounted for approximately 50% of total digital exports, underscoring Malaysia’s growing capabilities in advanced digital technologies, according to the corporation.
Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo said the strong export outcomes demonstrate Malaysia’s readiness to lead in the global digital economy, driven by clear policies and effective public-private partnerships./.
