All 47 officials holding positions elected or approved by the National Assembly (NA) have passed the first ever vote of confidence during the 13th legislature’s fifth session in Hanoi.

The June 10 confidence vote specified three degrees - high confidence, confidence, and low confidence. The results were announced on June 11 as follows:

1. Truong Tan Sang, President: 330 high confidence votes (accounting for 66.27 percent of total NA deputies); 133 confidence votes (26.71 percent); 28 low confidence votes (5.62 percent).

2. Nguyen Thi Doan, Vice President: 263 (52.81 percent); 215 (43.17 percent); 13 (2.61 percent).

3. Nguyen Sinh Hung, NA Chairman: 328 (65.86 percent); 139 (27.91 percent); 25 (5.02 percent).

4. Uong Chu Luu, Vice NA Chairman: 323 (64.86 percent); 155 (31.12 percent); 13 (2.61 percent).

5. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Vice NA Chairwoman: 372 (74.7 percent); 104 (20.88 percent); 14 (2.81 percent).

6. Tong Thi Phong, Vice NA Chairwoman: 322 (64.66 percent); 145 (29.12 percent); 24 (4.82 percent).

7. Huynh Ngoc Son, Vice NA Chairman: 252 (50.6 percent); 217 (43.57 percent); 22 (4.42 percent).

The National Assembly adopted a resolution verifying the results of the confidence vote with the approval of 471 deputies, or 94.58 percent of the total number of deputies.

Addressing the session after the announcement, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed that the National Assembly has fulfilled the task assigned by the people in assessing officials through the pilot confidence vote, which was conducted in a serious, careful, subjective and effective manner.

The NA hopes that results will help the leaders improve their performance in the future, he said.

He added that lessons and experiences learnt from the vote will be useful for the organisation of confidence vote at People’s Councils at different levels.-VNA
