NA Chairman concludes Europe tour

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue arrived in Hanoi on September 12, concluding his trip to Europe to attend the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP5) in Austria and to visit the European Parliament, Belgium and Finland from September 5-11.

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman VuongDinh Hue arrived in Hanoi on September 12, concluding his trip to Europe toattend the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament(WCSP5) in Austria and to visit the European Parliament, Belgium andFinland from September 5-11.

While there, the top lawmaker had over 70 activities. The tripaffirmed the foreign policy and advocate of Vietnam’s Party and State;manifested the country’s proactiveness, activeness and responsibility; andraised its position. One of the focuses of the trip was the vaccine diplomacyas well as the cooperation against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bilateral contacts within the framework of the conferencehelped consolidate and strengthen foreign relations between Vietnam and othercountries. NA Chairman Hue’s activities also helped deepen friendship andaccelerate cooperation between Vietnam and other countries in the fields ofpolitics, economy, trade, investment, science and technology, etc./.

Modern criminal justice system proposed under revised Criminal Procedure Code

The revised code proposes more progressive procedural rules to enhance adversarial proceedings, tighten power oversight and better protect human and citizens' rights. It will retain effective existing provisions, amend or repeal outdated regulations, and introduce new procedures to expedite case handling, reduce procedural costs and improve efficiency while ensuring fairness, objectivity and greater protection of the lawful rights and interests of organisations and individuals. It also aims to modernise criminal proceedings through the wider application of digital technologies and closer alignment with international practices.

Vietnam, Laos strengthen cooperation on overseas community affairs

The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in overseas Vietnamese and overseas Lao affairs for the 2026–2030 period, providing a framework for future collaboration.
