NA Chairwoman meets Lao leader

Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on October 28 had a meeting with Lao Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachith, who is on a Vietnam visit to attend the ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts in Laos.

Hanoi (VNA) – Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi KimNgan on October 28 had a meeting with Lao Party General Secretary and PresidentBounnhang Vorachith, who is on a Vietnam visit to attend the ceremony to markthe 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiersand Experts in Laos.

The top legislator, also a Politburo member, described Bounnhang Vorachith’svisit as a vivid illustration for the great friendship, combat alliance and specialsolidarity between the two Parties, States, armies and peoples.

She said the ceremony offers an opportunity for both sides to look back on theglorious tradition of the Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts in Laos, aswell as show profound gratitude for those who sacrificed their youth forindependence and freedom in each nation.

NA Chairwoman Ngan said they were principal contributors to the close tiesbetween the two Parties, States and peoples.

She also took the occasion to inform the Lao leader of the Vietnamese NationalAssembly’s recent activities, and highlighted that both parliaments are workingto accelerate cooperation contents reached during her visit to Laos inSeptember.

Regarding the construction of the Lao National Assembly House, the Vietnameseside has pledged efforts to ensure the progress and quality of the work, sheadded.

Bounnhang Vorachith, for his part, expressed his delight at the impressiveachievements by the Vietnamese Party, State and people in the past time, andstressed the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperationbetween the two nations which have stood the test of time.

He affirmed Laos will continue educating its younger generations about theVietnam – Laos relations, and further efforts to nurture the ties./.
