A delegation of the Vietnam ’s National Assembly, led by Nguyen Duc Kien, NA deputy chairman, paid a working visit to Spain from June 21-26.

First Vice-President of the Senate of Spain Molasi Batllori Isidre and first Vice-President of the Spanish Chamber of Deputies Maria Teresa Cunillera received and worked with the delegation.

At the working sessions, the Vietnamese NA deputy chairman briefed his hosts of the great achievements of Vietnam during its past struggles for independence and national unity as well as its twenty-year implementation of national renewal and development.

The Spanish leaders praised Vietnam ’s achievements and highly valued the Vietnamese NA delegation’s working visit, considering it as an important milestone to promote the relationship between the two national assemblies and two peoples.

For his part, the NA deputy chairman spoke highly of Spain ’s commitment to assist its businesses in investing in such fields as infrastructure, tourism, energy and water treatment.

The two sides agreed that Spain and Vietnam should improve their bilateral cooperation, based on effective usage of their potentials and strength.

They also suggested that the two national assemblies should increase exchanges of high-rankings officials to share information and experiences, strengthen mutual understanding and effectively co-ordinate in international parliamentary forums.

During its stay in Spain , the Vietnamese delegation also worked with some committees of the Spanish Chamber of Deputies, Special Envoy of the Spanish Foreign Ministry in-charge-of Asian region, Secretary of the Communist Party of Andalucia autonomous area as well as leaders of the Sevilla city’s council.

The working sessions focused on national assembly’s roles in solving national important issues and ways to overcome the global economic crisis and recover economic growth, unemployment reduction and social security guarantee as well as the situation of global climate change.

On this occasion, the NA delegation also visited the Vietnamese embassy in Spain./.
