NA discusses credit institutions-related issues

Hanoi (VNA) – A draft resolution on the settlement ofbad debts at credit institutions and a bill on amendments and supplements to theLaw on Credit Institutions were high on the agenda of the National Assembly(NA)’s sitting on June 7.

At the morning plenum, NA deputies discussed thenecessity and the scope of the draft resolution on bad debt settlement, thedefinition of bad debts, and principles of settling bad debts.

They also looked into the right to collateralseizure, the formation of a debt market, along with possible difficulties andchallenges relating to the resolution implementation, among others.

Regarding the draft law on amendments andsupplements to some articles of the Law on Credit Institutions,parliamentarians scrutinised the scope of the draft, the exemption fromresponsibility of people engaging in the restructuring of credit institutionsunder special control, and the supplementation of bad debt settlement to thedraft law.

Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Le MinhHung later clarified some issues mentioned by deputies.

In the afternoon, NA deputies had groupdiscussions on the draft law on forest protection and development (revised) andthe draft law on fisheries (revised).

On June 8, the parliament is set to discuss somecontents in the draft law on irrigation in the morning sitting. 

In the afternoon, the NA is scheduled to vote ona resolution on a law and ordinance making programme for 2018 and revisions tothe law and ordinance making programme in 2017. Deputies will also appraise theresettlement work of the Long Thanh international airport project.-VNA
