Nam Cuong group to build first astronomy park in Southeast Asia

The Nam Cuong Group, a big name in the Vietnam’s realty market, said it will invest more than 260 billion VND (11.43 million USD) in a 12-ha astronomy park to the west of Hanoi.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Nam Cuong Group, abig name in the Vietnam’s realty market, said it will invest more than 260billion VND (11.43 million USD) in a 12-ha astronomy park to the west of Hanoi. 

The park, the first of its kind in SoutheastAsia, is located within the 200-ha Duong Noi Township.

The park will feature advanced scientificresearch and entertainment themes on an area roughly equal to the size of the15-ha Kazan Planetarium in Russia, the world’s first astronomy park. At thecentre of the park, there will be a 6-ha lake named Bach Hop Thuy.

Speaking to the press in Hanoi on July 4, Nam Cuong Group vice chairwoman TranThi Quynh Ngoc said the facility will be an exciting destination for those wholove science and space exploration, since not much investment has been made inastronomy in Vietnam compared with other sciences.

The project will be built in two phases.Phase 1 will last for about a year, covering the building of eight major and 41other facilities, which include squares, an outdoor stage and a waterfall.

The park will be developed under theguidance of Nguyen Xuan Anh, head of the Institute of Geophysics under theVietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and Italian landscape design companyEgo Landscape.

A website on astronomy will be developed, providinginformation on current phenomena and new information about astronomy.International scientific conferences will also be held at the site.-VNA
