Nation’s founding kings commemorated

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong offered incenses to King Ly Thai To –who is the founder of Vietnam ’s capital city of Thang Long-Hanoi, at his monument at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi on February 13.

The incense offering ceremony was the first of a series of activities to herald the 1000 th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi in 2010.

The NA Chairman also offered incenses at Ngoc Son temple and the monument dedicated to Kings of the Le Dynasty at Hoan Kiem lake.

The same day, authorities of the northern midland province of Phu Tho organised an incense offering ceremony at the Hung Temple, which is dedicated to Hung Kings – the legendary founders of Vietnam .

This has become an annual activity every spring to honour the Hung Kings’ services to the nation in line with President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching that “the Hung Kings had the merit of founding our country, you and I have to defend it together.”/.
