A group of scientists have claimed they discovered a new species of bat belonging to genus Rhinolophus at the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in the central province of Quang Binh.
Rhinolophus (horseshoe bats) have leaf-like, horseshoe-shaped protuberances on their noses. They emit echolocation calls through these structures, which may serve to focus the sound.
The scientists also reported that a range of bat species have made caves inside the park’s zone in Minh Hoa district their home.-VNA
