New momentum for ties with Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Ukraine

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s official visits to the Netherlands , Uzbekistan and Ukraine from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6 have created a strong momentum for fostering cooperation between Vietnam and the three countries, especially in economics, trade and investment.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son made the remark tothe press following the visits, which were the first to the threecountries by PM Dung after he was re-elected as Prime Minister ofVietnam and the first by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader toUzbekistan .

“I believe the success of the visitswill help deepen the relations between Vietnam and the threecountries, thus meeting the interests of all sides,” Son said, addingthat high-level agreements reached during the visits will be foundationsfor further promoting cooperation between Vietnam and the threecountries in all aspects, especially areas of priority.

In politics, the sides agreed to strengthen high-level politicaldialogues, the exchange of delegations at all levels and cooperationbetween localities, which will help realise commitments made during thevisits.

According to Son , Vietnam willcoordinate more closely and effectively with the three countries atregional and international forums, helping step up relations betweenASEAN and other regions.

He also noted that PMDung and the countries’ leaders agreed on a series of effective measuresto boost economic, trade and investment relations, especially settingup partnerships between businesses.

Vietnamand the Netherlands agreed to strengthen cooperation in five areasof priority and expanding bilateral ties to other potential fields whilecreating conditions for the two countries’ businesses to set uppartnerships, and increase investment in shipbuilding, energy, climateservices, training, scientific research and technological transfer.

Vietnam and Uzbekistan will strengthen trade promotion,import-export support activities, diversify import-export products,boost contact and cooperation between small- and medium-sized, andprivate enterprises of the two countries.

Vietnamand Ukraine agreed to intensify efforts to expand cooperationbetween their businesses, speed up the simplification of tradeprocedures, encourage information exchange and seek effectivecooperative forms, including the establishment of joint ventures.

The two sides will consider cooperation in energy, machinerymanufacturing, air craft assembling, shipbuilding, agriculture, mining,oil and gas industry, and chemicals./.

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
