Vietnamese Party leader arrives in Moscow, beginning official visit to Russia

On this occasion, Vietnam wants to further strengthen political trust between the two countries, and identify orientations to bring the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Russian Federation to new heights.

Moscow (VNA) - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam, his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Vnukovo 2 Airport in Moscow on May 8 evening (local time) to begin an official visit to the Russian Federation and attend the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War from May 8-11, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

General Secretary Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation were welcomed at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko and a number of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam G.S.Bezdetko and his spouse, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi and his spouse; a large number of officials, staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation.

The official welcome ceremony for General Secretary Lam, his spouse and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation was solemnly held right at the Vnukovo 2 Airport.

Immediately after the official welcome ceremony at the airport, General Secretary Lam left for the Prime Minister's Palace and met with Prime Minister Mishustin. He also attended a solemn reception for leaders of the countries attending the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The official visit to the Russian Federation and attendance at the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War by General Secretary Lam and his spouse along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation demonstrated Vietnam's respect and honour for the enormous contributions and sacrifices of the former Soviet Union and the current Russian Federation in the great victory against fascism, firmly protecting peace in the world.

On this occasion, Vietnam wants to further strengthen political trust between the two countries, and identify orientations to bring the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Russian Federation to new heights.

During the visit, General Secretary Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam will have important meetings with senior leaders of the Russian Federation, thereby creating new impetus in the bilateral cooperation in many fields, including traditional cooperation fields and new fields with great potential, creating more important driving forces to realise the oriented development goals in the bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region as well as in the world./.

On the afternoon of May 8 (local time), Party General Secretary To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Moscow, commencing an official visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. The visit, scheduled from May 8 to 11, includes participation in the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
