New Year flag salute ceremony held at nation’s easternmost mainland point

A national flag salute ceremony was held on January 1 in the country’s easternmost mainland point of Mui Dien in the south central province of Phu Yen.

Phu Yen(VNA) – A national flag salute ceremony was held on January 1 in the country’seasternmost mainland point of Mui Dien in the south central province of PhuYen.

The ceremony drew morethan 300 local officials and soldiers as well as tourists who sang the nationalanthem together to welcome the New Year 2019.

Huynh Ngoc from TuyHoa city of Phu Yen, said that this is the second time Ngoc and friends have joinedthe ceremony in the place that welcomes the first sunlight of the country.

“I am very proud tosing the national anthem on the first day of the New Year,” stated Ngoc.

Meanwhile, Nguyen VanToan, a visitor from Ho Chi Minh City, showed his delight to visit Mui Dien, afamous tourist attraction of Phu Yen on the first day of 2019 and join thespecial ceremony for the first time.

The national flag salutingis an annual event held by the People’s Committee of Phu Yen as part ofpatriotism education activities. On the occasion, Phu Yen also held a ceremonyto welcome the first 100 tourists to Bai Mon-Mui Dien national tourist site.

Phan Dinh Phung, ViceChairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said this year, the provincewill hold various cultural and art events to mark the 30th anniversary of its re-establishment and lure more tourists.

In recent year, PhuYen tourism has thrived with the rising number of visitors. In 2018, theprovince welcomed 1.6 million tourists.-VNA

Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%.
