The non-government organisation Saigon Children’s Charity (SCC) will raise about 750,000 USD for the building of kindergartens in two poor districts in the southern province of Kien Giang.

A cooperation agreement to this effect was signed between SCC and the provincial Union of Friendship Organisations (UFO) in Rach Gia city on March 28.

Under the programme, 10 classrooms will be built each year, and equipped with full teaching equipment and outdoor toys, in order to create the best conditions for young learners.

According to UFO President Le Van Hong, the province’s pre-school education sector is facing infrastructural difficulties, leaving 47 communes across the locality without kindergartens.

He thanked the SCC and other donors for their generous contributions to the province’s educational development.

In the time to come, Kien Giang will work closely with the SCC in implementing projects, paving the way for the expansion of its long-term cooperation with the organisation and other donors in the field, he said.

The same day, the SCC and Prudential Life Insurance Co. Ltd. kicked off construction of a kindergarten in Nam Thai A commune in An Bien district.

As the first project under the agreement, it has a total investment of nearly 96,000 USD, with 42,000 USD provided by Prudential.-VNA
