Hanoi (VNA) - As the host of the Visit Vietnam Year 2021, the northern province of Ninh Binh has made preparations for a new era of tourism development when its smokeless economy has to "live" with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Visit Vietnam Year 2021, themed “Hoa Lu - Thousand-year-old Capital” officially kicked off on April 20 after more than a year of delay due to the influence of the pandemic.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency prior to the event, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc revealed a long-term strategy and plans to promote regional connectivity in order to create unique and attractive products to stimulate domestic tourism demand and prepare to welcome international holiday-makers in the coming time.
Ensuring safety and connectivity
According to Ngoc, the local authorities have strengthened communication campaigns to raise public awareness of the importance of strictly implementing COVID-19 prevention and control regulations recommended by the Ministry of Health, and fully prepared relevant equipment in order to ensure safety for visitors.
“The Visit Vietnam Year 2021 as a very favorable opportunity for Ninh Binh to quickly revive and promote its tourism industry”, he said.
“I think the important thing during the year is that provinces and cities across the country need to enhance connectivity to create inter-regional tourism products, thus promoting the value of history, culture and nature of the country and creating an impetus to the sector amid the pandemic”, he stressed.
Ngoc also emphasised the vital role of the local community and residents, saying that they are acting as the main actor in this event.
“This is a way to honour and introduce historical and cultural values of the homeland and the country”, he said
Strategy for Hoa Lu Ancient Capital
Ninh Binh is proud to have Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex which boasts world cultural and natural heritages recognized by UNESCO.
In its tourism development strategy, Ninh Binh aims to bring into full play potential and advantages of the world cultural and natural heritages by developing and exploiting eco-tourism and cultural tourism.
Attention has been paid to activities to promote connectivity and experience sharing between local tourism enterprises and partners across the country, he affirmed.
Ninh Binh will develop a long-term strategy to organise and implement tourism activities as well as develop a green economy towards recovering and promoting economic growth when the COVID-19 pandemic is under control.
The province has also developed a tourism development strategy for the next 5 years and 10 years, on the basis of strategic orientations on developing tourism infrastructure in areas with unique values of heritage, culture and nature.
Ninh Binh planned to organise 11 major and 27 others activities in the Visit Vietnam Year 2021 themed “Hoa Lu - Thousand-year-old Capital”.
The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and 27 localities nationwide were set to hold two major and 103 events in response to the Visit Vietnam Year 2021.
However, many of these activities have been canceled, postponed, or scaled down due to complex developments of COVID-19.
Located in the southern reaches of the Red River Delta, Ninh Binh is known for its wondrous natural scenery, with a labyrinth of waterways, mountains, and plains as well as cross-cultural influences from the north to the south and from the mountains to the plains and coastal areas. It is home to 1,821 relic areas, including 81 national relic sites and a world cultural and natural heritage site./.
