Ninth working day of 14th NA’s seventh session

Hanoi (VNA) – The ninth working day of the 14thNational Assembly’s seventh session, under the chair of National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, was televised nationwide on May 30.

The legislature reviewed the socio-economic performance and statebudget during 2018 and the first months of 2019, as well as the state budgetbalance of 2017 in the plenary session.

A majority of lawmakers agreed with the Government’s reportand another by the NA Standing Committee on reviewing the socio-economicperformance for 2018 and early 2019, and key tasks for the near future.

They gave opinions on agro-forestry production andaquaculture, impacts of petrol and power price hikes on the consumer priceindex, the slow restructuring of state-owned enterprises, delayed disbursementfor key national transportation projects, solutions to examination cheating andschool violence, and complicated drug trafficking cases, among others.

About major tasks for the near future, legislators suggestedfine-tuning legal regulations, cutting administrative procedures and seriouslydealing with violations in investment, construction and transportation, encouragingthe private sector’s involvement in key national projects, and improvingtaxation management.

They called for serious measures to be taken to deal withviolations of the national high school graduation examination in 2018, as wellas for drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs, drug abuse cases, andrevised policies to attract quality foreign direct investment, among others.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and Minister of HomeAffairs Le Vinh Tan clarified some of the issues raised by deputies.

Concluding the session, NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hiensaid the legislature will continue its plenary session on socio-economicaffairs and state budget on May 31 morning.

The ministers of agriculture and rural development, finance,education and training, and planning and investment will discuss and answerrelevant questions.

In the afternoon, deputies will debate the draft law onamendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Insurance Businessand the Law on Intellectual Property.–VNA

Top legislators of Vietnam, Türkiye meet on sidelines of IPU-152 in Istanbul

The top Vietnamese legislator expressed his admiration for Türkiye’s cultural identity and its friendly, hospitable people, while highly valuing the European country’s growing role and position at multilateral forums and in regional mediation efforts. Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Parliamentary leaders hail development of Vietnam – Russia ties

The top legislator of Vietnam proposed that both sides deepen political and diplomatic connections, as well as parliamentary cooperation, through delegation exchanges, high-level meetings through various channels, and the successful organisation of a visit to Vietnam by the Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council and a trip to Russia by the NA Chairman to co-chair the 5th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in 2026.
