Cambodian NA President concludes Vietnam visit

Hanoi (VNA) – Presidentof the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Heng Samrin and his spouse concludedtheir Vietnam visit, which lasted from May 28-30 at the invitation of NA ChairwomanNguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

During the visit, Heng Samrinheld talks with NA Chairwoman Ngan, met Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and permanentmember of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, andPresident of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man,visited the northern province of Ha Nam, and planted a tree at Tam Chuc tourismarea in Kim Bang district.

On the occasion, thedelegation laid wreaths at a monument dedicated to heroic martyrs and paidtribute to Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum.

During their meetings, bothsides said the visit contributes to further tightening ties between the twocountries and legislatures in particular.

They vowed to facilitatevisits by leaders of the two nations, ministries, agencies, trade unions, andpeople-to-people exchanges; work closely together to effectively implementsigned agreements; and highlight the importance of regularly raising publicawareness of bilateral comprehensive partnership, especially among younggenerations.

On parliamentary ties, thetwo nations implemented the cooperation agreements reached by the twolegislatures in July 2012, as well as regularly facilitated visits by NAhigh-ranking delegations and friendship parliamentarians’ groups.

They agreed that the two NAcommittees will monitor the implementation of signed agreements and strengthenties between the Cambodian NA Secretariat and the Vietnamese NA Office,especially in personnel training and information technology.

The two sides will liaise tohold international conventions, such as the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly,the annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific ParliamentaryForum, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, among others.

On theoccasion, the two top legislators signed a cooperation agreement between thetwo NAs and witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding oncooperation between the Vietnamese NAOffice and the Cambodian NA Secretariat.–VNA

Top legislator calls for strong Party building, reform in National Assembly

NA Chairman Man, who is also a Politburo member and Secretary of the NA Party Committee, said that the committee, with nearly 3,000 members, must maintain strict organisational principles and build a clean and strong Party organisation that promotes solidarity, democracy, responsibility, unity, and creativity.
