The deluge, which issweeping through Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Keda, Perlis,Selangor, and Johor states, has claimed at least eight lives. Kelantanwas the hardest hit with more than 81,000 victims forced to evacuate,the Malaysian meteorological department reported.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has requested more rescue effortsand called on financial organisations and capital management agencies toconsider the debt payment schedule for borrowers to reduce the burdenon flood victims.-VNA
