Northeast monsoon to hit northern region this weekend

A northeast monsoon wave is forecast to hit the northern region on October 12, lowering temperatures by 3 to 10 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Hanoi (VNA) – A northeast monsoon wave is forecast to hit the northern region on October 12,lowering temperatures by 3 to 10 degrees Celsius, according to the NationalCenter for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Temperatures in Hanoi are expected to drop to 19-22 degree Celsius, said TranQuang Nang, head of the centre’s weather forecast department.

Meanwhile, mountainous areas will experience a temperature drop to 15-18 degreeCelsius, he said.

High mountainous areassuch as Mau Son, Sa Pa and Tam Dao could see the lowest temperature of 12degree Celsius.

The monsoon is also setto bring heavy rains to northern mountainous areas and some northern centralprovinces. Rains are expected in these areas from October 13-16./.

AIC case in Ca Mau: Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan sentenced to 10 years in prison

The People's Court of Ca Mau province on August 12 sentenced former Chairwoman and General Director of the Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC) Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan to ten years in prison for "violating bidding regulations, causing serious consequences" in a case involving the inflation of equipment prices for environmental monitoring stations in the former Bac Lieu province (now Ca Mau province).
