A route linking Vietnam's northern Cao Bang province and the city of Baise in Guangxi province, China, opened on July 18.
Under an agreement between the two sides, Vietnamese vehicles carrying goods and passengers will be allowed to transit through to Baise city, while vehicles from China can go as far as Cao Bang city in Cao Bang province.
Nong Van Hai, acting Director of Cao Bang province's Transport Department, said that the route will play a key role in increasing economic and tourist cooperation between the two localities.
China also sees this as an opportunity to do business with other ASEAN countries, he said.
The first two buses left Vietnam after the opening with 40 tourists on their two day tour to Baise City and China's first buses also brought 78 tourists to Cao Bang province.-VNA
