Norway aids Vietnam’s community football

Teenagers who love football in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue of Vietnam will have access to better conditions of practice under a new project funded by the Football Association of Norway.
Teenagers who love football in the central province of Thua Thien-Hueof Vietnam will have access to better conditions of practice under anew project funded by the Football Association of Norway.


Thelocal authorities received the project, namely “Community football inthe 2012-2015 periods”, at a ceremony on September 18.


Witha total investment of 19.5 billion VND (about 936,000 USD), of which17.6 billion VND is from the sponsor and the rest from the local budget,the project will fuel the operation of the province’s 120 existingclubs with focus on providing training courses for club coaches andreferees, and organizing tournaments of all levels.


Underthe project, two clubs for disadvantaged children will also be equippedwith football gears. As many as 10 new clubs are expected to beestablished each year, with the aim of getting more children to play thegame.


The Football Association of Norway has been funding the community football model in the province since 2000.-VNA

Japanese veteran journalist praises Vietnamese press’ progress
