New Zealand’s new Ambassador Heather Mhairi Riddle has assured she will work with Vietnam to implement agreements reached during Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s recent visit.

She affirmed this during her meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi on Sept. 30 on the occasion of taking office in Vietnam.

She stressed that the recent visit to New Zealand by General Secretary Manh was a milestone in the two countries’ relations.

PM Dung affirmed that Vietnam will create the best conditions possible for the newly-appointed NZ ambassador to fulfil her mission, as a testament to their deep commitment to boosting friendship and cooperation in all areas between the two countries.

The PM expressed his pleasure with development of Vietnam-New Zealand relations in all fields, especially after Party General Secretary Manh’s official visit, which elevated the two countries’ ties to that of a “Comprehensive Partnership”.

He asked the Ambassador to work with Vietnamese ministries and agencies to build an action plan to promote bilateral cooperation in science and technology, customs, security, economy, trade, investment, education and training as well as preparations for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the two countries’ diplomatic ties./.
