HCM City (VNA) - The One Mount Group has unveiled its new digital ecosystem brand, OneShop, marking a strategic step in creating a modern digital commerce platform for Vietnamese small retailers amid significant challenges posed by a rapid digital transformation.

Le Huynh Minh Tu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said that in the era of the digital economy, transformation is no longer optional but essential for sustainable growth. The department has implemented initiatives to promote digitalisation in trade and industry, including building digital ecosystems connecting enterprises, suppliers, distributors, logistics providers and consumers on shared data platforms. Traditional markets and retail channels have also been digitised, enabling small traders to access cashless payments, e-commerce and modern business support platforms.

Tu emphasised that comprehensive digital models like OneShop connect production, distribution and consumption, offering small retailers practical solutions to participate fully in the digital economy rather than being left behind.

Le Thiet Bao, CEO of One Mount Distribution, noted that the Politburo’s Resolution 57/NQ-TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, inspired the development of OneShop to deliver tangible benefits to smaller participants in Vietnam’s consumer goods value chain. Evolving from VinShop, which launched five years ago, OneShop now encompasses over 120,000 convenience stores nationwide, connecting more than 500 brands and suppliers and providing 10,000 genuine products, pioneering the digitisation of Vietnam’s traditional retail channels.

OneShop provides small retailers nearly free access to a platform linking manufacturers, banks, logistics and tax authorities, streamlining operations and ensuring transparent invoicing.

Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Head of the HCM City Tax Department noted that OneShop helps small retailers overcome technological barriers, supporting the tax sector’s digital modernisation efforts.

The platform also addresses a key challenge for small retailers: ensuring profitable and safe sourcing. By providing a wide range of certified products from reputable suppliers at competitive prices, OneShop helps modernise traditional retail practices while promoting smart, safe and sustainable consumption.

Nguyen Duc Toan, CEO of MM Mega Market Vietnam, indicated that in Vietnam’s increasingly competitive retail sector, strategic partnerships are essential for attracting consumers in the digital era. He noted that the company had collaborated with OneShop for a year to study consumer behaviour and digital solutions, particularly addressing delivery challenges in the supply chain. Toan expressed optimism that OneShop would strengthen connections with convenience stores and expand consumer reach online and offline, offering a transparent, modernised retail platform with 18,000 clearly sourced products, ultimately benefiting consumers and small retailers nationwide.

Looking ahead, OneShop plans to expand its reach to all 5.2 million small retailers in Vietnam over the next five years, incorporating a wider range of product categories, including FMCG, beauty, health and construction materials. The platform will leverage data analytics and artificial intelligence to optimise operations, helping small retailers adopt technology, reduce logistics costs and fully participate in the modern retail ecosystem./.

Vietnam shifting FDI attraction focus from volume to quality

As production relocation to Southeast Asia accelerates and competition for FDI intensifies, Vietnam faces increasing pressure from regional rivals such as India, Malaysia and Indonesia, which are offering bold tax incentives and developing specialised industrial parks. This reality requires Vietnam to shift its focus from attracting large volumes of capital to drawing high-quality investment, prioritising core technologies, innovation, value chain linkages and higher localisation rates.
