Over 1,450 athletes to compete at ASEAN Para Games 12 in Cambodia

A total of 1,453 athletes from 11 countries will participate in the 12th Asean Para Games that will take place in Phnom Penh from June 3- 9, according to the Cambodian national organising committees for the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC).

Hanoi (VNA) – A total of 1,453 athletes from 11 countries will participate inthe 12th Asean Para Games that will take place in Phnom Penh fromJune 3- 9, according to the Cambodian national organising committees for the32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC).

Amongthese athletes, the largest contingents are from Thailand with 304,followed by Indonesia with 275, and the host country Cambodia with 252. There are also 128 athletes from Vietnam, 83 from Myanmar, 43 from Laos, 26from Singapore, 20 from Brunei, and 13 from Timor-Leste.

Inaddition to athletes, a total of 1,239 coaches and technical officials will goto the ASEAN Para Games 12.

YiVeasna, secretary general of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia,said that the athletes will contest in 14 sports.

Cambodia expects to win 56 medals in the upcoming games, up from28 medals they got in the 11th Asean Para Games in Indonesia in 2022, Veasna said.

The host country is also expected to rank sixth out of the 11participating countries on the medal tally./.
