Hanoi (VNA) – A total of 1,453 athletes from 11 countries will participate in the 12th Asean Para Games that will take place in Phnom Penh from June 3- 9, according to the Cambodian national organising committees for the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC).
Among these athletes, the largest contingents are from Thailand with 304, followed by Indonesia with 275, and the host country Cambodia with 252. There are also 128 athletes from Vietnam, 83 from Myanmar, 43 from Laos, 26 from Singapore, 20 from Brunei, and 13 from Timor-Leste.
In addition to athletes, a total of 1,239 coaches and technical officials will go to the ASEAN Para Games 12.
Yi Veasna, secretary general of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia, said that the athletes will contest in 14 sports.
Cambodia expects to win 56 medals in the upcoming games, up from 28 medals they got in the 11th Asean Para Games in Indonesia in 2022, Veasna said.
The host country is also expected to rank sixth out of the 11 participating countries on the medal tally./.
